Strategic Management Intern – Homes Industries, Malawi
Organisation Description
Homes Industries is an agro-processing company working with over 2,500 smallholder farmers across three value chains: sunflower, rice, and groundnuts. The company provides training, input loans, and market access to farmers, ensuring sustainable agricultural development and economic empowerment.
Project Scope
The Strategic Management Intern will support Homes Industries in identifying growth opportunities and refining operational strategies. The role offers practical experience in business analysis, stakeholder mapping, and strategy development. Responsibilities include:
Conducting a short SWOT analysis of Homes Industries’ position in the agro-processing sector.
Mapping potential business partners, including supermarkets, wholesalers, and NGOs.
Reviewing existing processes and suggesting simple improvements for efficiency.
Assisting in drafting a short internal report on strategic recommendations.
Supporting the preparation of a presentation for management on findings and opportunities.
Project Outcomes
A concise SWOT analysis highlighting strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
A partner mapping document identifying at least 10 potential collaborators.
A short recommendations report outlining 3–5 strategies for growth or improvement.
A presentation delivered to the management team summarising key findings.
Internship Requirements
