Project Scope

This project will support TGED Foundation’s programme development by exploring how its environmental and climate initiatives can respond to the needs, priorities and contributions of women and girls:

  • Conducting desk research on 2–3 agreed gender and environmental issues relevant to TGED Foundation’s programmes, such as gender differences in climate vulnerability, women’s access to sustainable livelihoods, or women’s participation in community climate action.

  • Reviewing relevant policies, research and good-practice approaches relating to gender equality, climate justice and environmental resilience.

  • Mapping 8–10 relevant organisations, initiatives or stakeholders working on gender and environmental issues in Nigeria and/or the wider region.

  • Supporting the development or refinement of one programme concept, activity or campaign that integrates gender equality into environmental education, sustainable livelihoods or community resilience.

  • Developing a short evidence and resource bank to support future programme design and advocacy.

  • Drafting 2–3 programme or advocacy resources, such as briefing notes, inclusive activity guides, awareness materials or stakeholder briefs.

  • Producing practical recommendations for strengthening gender inclusion in the selected programme area, including participation, accessibility and monitoring.

Project Outcomes

  • A concise research report covering 2–3 agreed gender and environmental priority areas.

  • A stakeholder map featuring approximately 8–10 relevant organisations, initiatives or stakeholders.

  • A structured evidence and resource bank for future programme development.

  • A draft concept or proposed adaptations for one programme, activity or campaign that addresses gender equality alongside environmental objectives.

  • 2–3 draft programme or advocacy resources.

  • Practical recommendations for strengthening gender inclusion in the selected programme area.

  • A final handover document outlining findings, recommendations and potential next steps.

Internship Requirements

  • Gender & Development Interest: Interest in gender equality, women’s empowerment, climate justice or inclusive community development.

  • Research & Analytical Skills: Ability to undertake structured desk research and synthesise information from different sources.

  • Environmental & Policy Awareness: Interest in how environmental challenges and policies affect women and girls.

  • Writing & Documentation: Ability to communicate research findings clearly and produce concise, accessible programme materials.

  • Academic Background: Students studying gender studies, social sciences, international development, environmental studies, politics, law or related disciplines may be particularly suited to the role.

  • Sensitivity & Professionalism: Ability to approach gender inequalities respectfully and avoid assumptions about communities’ needs or experiences.

  • Collaboration: Strong communication skills and willingness to work with the TGED Foundation team and incorporate feedback.
