Programme & Community Engagement Intern – TGED Foundation, Nigeria

Organisation Description

Triple Green Environmental Development Foundation (TGED Foundation) is a nonprofit organisation in Nigeria dedicated to fostering environmental sustainability through inclusive, community-driven solutions. Its work cuts across community engagement, grassroots projects, stakeholder collaboration, environmental education, public health advocacy and evidence-based research, with a mission to advance community-led solutions for climate and environmental resilience. Current initiatives include the Eco-Savers School Project, the Plastic-Free Ekiti Campaign, the Kick for Planet Initiative and the Treevolution Seed to School Initiative, which together span environmental and climate education, climate justice and policy advocacy, sustainable livelihoods, biodiversity conservation and capacity building.

Project Scope

This project contributes to TGED Foundation's mission of advancing community-led climate and environmental solutions by supporting the planning, coordination and stakeholder engagement that underpin its four flagship initiatives:

•     Assisting with planning and coordination of school engagements, campaign activities and community events.

•     Supporting facilitators during school visits, training sessions and eco-club activities.

•     Coordinating communication with schools, stakeholders and partners across the initiatives.

•     Supporting event logistics for stakeholder forums and community engagement activities.

•     Documenting stakeholder feedback and preparing 3–5 meeting reports or engagement summaries.

•     Maintaining project documentation and records, and supporting reporting and donor communication processes.

Project Outcomes

•     Coordinated support delivered across school visits, community events and stakeholder forums.

•     3–5 meeting reports or engagement summaries from stakeholder consultations.

•     An organised system of project documentation and records.

•     Follow-up communications with schools, stakeholders and partners completed and logged.

•     Recommendations for strengthening engagement and coordination processes.

Internship Requirements

•     Organisational Skills: Ability to coordinate activities, manage logistics and keep multiple workstreams on track.

•     Communication & Facilitation: Confidence in engaging schools, community groups and stakeholders tactfully and consistently.

•     Writing & Documentation: Competence in preparing meeting reports, engagement summaries and project records.

•     Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, especially for documentation and trackers.

•     Collaboration: Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with the TGED Foundation team and respond to feedback.
