Programme Associate Intern – Durian Foundation, Nigeria

The foundation delivers vocational training, education, agricultural projects, and mindset transformation initiatives, creating sustainable livelihood opportunities and fostering community self-reliance. With a strong focus on utilising local resources, Durian promotes social and economic transformation in rural communities while advocating for women’s rights and education.
Project Scope
The Programme Associate will support the coordination, documentation and delivery of Durian Nigeria’s community development programmes. The role offers hands-on experience in women’s economic empowerment, rural community engagement and social impact delivery. Responsibilities include:
Assisting in the design and coordination of skills training and livelihood programmes for women in rural communities
Conducting research and documentation to capture community needs, programme outcomes and lessons learned
Supporting monitoring and evaluation activities to track progress and impact across Durian’s initiatives
Contributing to the development of reports, case studies and learning materials that showcase women’s stories and the outcomes of Durian’s work
Engaging with community members, local leaders and partner organisations to strengthen participation and collaboration.
Project Outcomes
Coordinated and supported the delivery of at least two community-led skills or livelihood programmes
Produced clear documentation or research summaries highlighting key outcomes, challenges and recommendations
Developed monitoring and evaluation updates that demonstrate progress towards programme goals and community impact
Contributed to outreach or learning materials such as case studies, short reports or storytelling content that highlight women’s experiences
Strengthened community engagement through active participation in at least two village meetings, stakeholder discussions or partnership-building activities
Internship Requirements
Research & Documentation: Ability to conduct basic research and produce clear written summaries.
Monitoring & Evaluation: Able to support simple data collection and track programme outcomes.
Writing & Communication: Strong writing skills for reports, case studies and community stories.
Programme Coordination: Organised and able to assist with planning and delivering community activities.
Community Engagement: Respectful, culturally aware and confident engaging with rural women’s groups.
Teamwork: Able to collaborate effectively and respond positively to guidance and feedback.
