Marketing & Communications Intern – School Farms, Ghana

Organisation Description

School Farms Ghana is a social initiative dedicated to addressing food insecurity, promoting sustainable agriculture, and empowering young people. The organisation establishes school farms across various educational institutions, providing students with hands-on agricultural training, enhancing their understanding of sustainable farming practices, and contributing to local food security. By encouraging agribusiness education, School Farms Ghana inspires students to view agriculture as a viable career path, fostering local economic growth and resilience.

Project Scope

This project contributes to School Farms Ghana’s mission of integrating sustainable farming practices into education by supporting the development of the Farms for CENS+Kit Teacher’s Implementation Manual. The manual is aligned with NaCCA (National Council for Curriculum and Assessment) standards and is designed to help teachers deliver climate-smart farming lessons effectively.

  • Conducting a social media landscape analysis covering at least 3–5 key platforms and audience segments.

  • Developing 4–6 pieces of digital content such as newsletters, blog posts, or stories.

  • Creating a 6–8 week social media content calendar aligned with organisational goals.

  • Executing 1–2 themed social media campaigns, tracking analytics, and producing short performance reports.

  • Designing a suite of 8–12 promotional materials (posters, flyers, brochures, infographics).

  • Supporting cohesive branding for 4 core initiatives: Farms for CENS+, Nourish Labs, Students Pop-Market, and AgroMentoring.

  • Conducting 1–2 field documentation sessions (photography/videography) depending on availability.

  • Assisting with up to 3 website or visual-identity updates.

Project Outcomes

  • A social media analysis report with platform-by-platform recommendations.

  • A strategic content calendar for 6–8 weeks, including draft captions and visuals.

  • At least two newsletters and a minimum of two blog posts or digital stories.

  • A branded design package with 8–12 promotional assets covering multiple initiatives.

  • 1–2 campaign reports with analytics (reach, engagement, impressions).

  • An organised archive of 20–40 photos or short clips from field documentation.

  • Updated website sections or visual identity elements, depending on organisational needs.

Internship Requirements

  • Digital Communication: Strong writing skills with the ability to develop short-form and long-form content.

  • Graphic Design: Competence in Canva, Adobe Suite, or equivalent tools, with the ability to produce polished visual assets.

  • Marketing Awareness: Ability to interpret basic analytics and adjust content strategies accordingly.

  • Creativity: Capacity to design engaging visuals and narratives that convey impact.

  • Collaboration: Ability to communicate effectively with the School Farms Ghana team and respond to feedback in an iterative process.
