Educational Content Writer Intern – School Farms, Ghana

Organisation Description

School Farms Ghana is a social initiative dedicated to addressing food insecurity, promoting sustainable agriculture, and empowering young people. The organisation establishes school farms across various educational institutions, providing students with hands-on agricultural training, enhancing their understanding of sustainable farming practices, and contributing to local food security. By encouraging agribusiness education, School Farms Ghana inspires students to view agriculture as a viable career path, fostering local economic growth and resilience.

Project Scope

This project contributes to School Farms Ghana’s mission of integrating sustainable farming practices into education by supporting the development of the Farms for CENS+Kit Teacher’s Implementation Manual. The manual is aligned with NaCCA (National Council for Curriculum and Assessment) standards and is designed to help teachers deliver climate-smart farming lessons effectively.

  • Develop clear, engaging, and age-appropriate educational content that translates climate-smart farming principles into classroom-ready lessons.

  • Align lesson plans and activities with NaCCA requirements and competency-based curricula.

  • Create teacher-friendly guidance, activity sheets, and reflection questions to support classroom delivery.

  • Collaborate with the School Farms team to ensure the manual reflects both practical farming knowledge and pedagogical best practice.

  • Review existing School Farms materials, adapting them into structured modules for teachers.

  • Contribute to the design of supplementary content (case studies, success stories, or localised farming practices).

Project Outcomes

  • Draft of the Farms for CENS+Kit Teacher’s Implementation Manual, structured into modules with lesson plans, activities, and guidance notes.

  • At least 10 fully developed, NaCCA-aligned lesson plans on climate-smart farming.

  • Teacher resources including activity sheets, reflection prompts, and implementation tips.

  • A glossary of climate-smart agriculture terms simplified for classroom use.

  • Final review report outlining alignment with NaCCA standards and suggested improvements.
