Educational Content Writer Intern – School Farms, Ghana

Organisation Description

School Farms Ghana is a social initiative dedicated to addressing food insecurity, promoting sustainable agriculture, and empowering young people. The organisation establishes school farms across various educational institutions, providing students with hands-on agricultural training, enhancing their understanding of sustainable farming practices, and contributing to local food security. By encouraging agribusiness education, School Farms Ghana inspires students to view agriculture as a viable career path, fostering local economic growth and resilience.

Project Scope

This project contributes to School Farms Ghana’s mission of integrating sustainable farming practices into education by supporting the development of the Farms for CENS+Kit Teacher’s Implementation Manual. The manual is aligned with NaCCA (National Council for Curriculum and Assessment) standards and is designed to help teachers deliver climate-smart farming lessons effectively.

  • Developing 3–5 detailed sections of the Teachers’ Toolkit (CENS+Kit).

  • Conducting curriculum-alignment research across NaCCA standards and at least 2–3 international references.

  • Designing and formatting toolkit components for clear, user-friendly classroom application.

  • Drafting 6–10 lesson plans, activity sheets, workbooks, or student-centred learning modules.

  • Piloting selected content through 1–2 teacher or student feedback sessions, depending on availability.

  • Supporting basic monitoring and evaluation activities, including usability checks and refinement logs.

  • Contributing 2–3 case studies or impact stories to enrich the toolkit.

Project Outcomes

  • 3–5 toolkit sections developed, structured, and formatted for inclusion in the CENS+Kit.

  • 6–10 NaCCA-aligned lesson plans or learning modules, ready for teacher use.

  • A curriculum alignment summary outlining how content meets specific NaCCA competencies.

  • Documentation of feedback from 1–2 pilot sessions with teachers or students.

  • Drafted teacher resources such as activity sheets, workbooks, and reflection questions.

  • A set of 2–3 case studies or success stories showcasing School Farms Ghana’s impact.

  • A brief M&E summary with recommendations for improving toolkit usability.

Internship Requirements

  • Writing & Editing: Strong writing skills with the ability to simplify technical concepts for learners.

  • Curriculum Development: Experience or interest in producing curriculum-aligned materials, lesson plans, and structured learning content.

  • Research Skills: Ability to review frameworks, extract insights, and integrate findings into educational products.

  • Basic Design: Competence in organising content, layouts, and templates for teacher-friendly formatting.

  • Collaboration: Strong communication skills and openness to iterative feedback.
