Digital Marketing Intern – Fablab Winam, Kenya

Organisation Description

Fablab Winam is a community-based innovation hub in Kisumu, Kenya, dedicated to empowering young people, women and local entrepreneurs through technology, creativity and practical problem-solving. The organisation provides access to digital fabrication tools, STEAM learning, technical training and mentorship, enabling communities to design solutions that address real social and economic challenges. Through its innovation programmes, youth skills development activities and collaborations with schools, community groups and development partners, Fablab Winam fosters local innovation, digital inclusion and community-driven impact.

Project Scope

This project contributes to Fablab Winam's mission of amplifying its online presence, showcasing maker stories and driving engagement for upcoming workshops and events:

• Designing social media graphics, writing blog posts and drafting newsletter editions highlighting lab innovations.

• Developing a 30-day social media content calendar with copy and graphic placeholders.

• Managing interactions across X, LinkedIn and Facebook to build an active ecosystem of makers and innovators.

• Planning and executing 1 cohesive digital campaign promoting Fablab Winam's training cohorts or community outreach events.

• Writing 2 blog posts or case studies on successful Fablab Winam projects.

• Producing monthly analytics reporting on growth, reach and top-performing content.

Project Outcomes

• A 30-day social media content calendar complete with copy and graphic placeholders.

• 2 published blog posts or case studies on successful Fablab Winam projects.

• 1 digital campaign planned and executed for a training cohort or outreach event.

• A monthly analytics report tracking growth, reach and top-performing content.

Internship Requirements

Content Creation: Ability to design simple graphics and produce engaging written content for digital channels.

Writing & Storytelling: Competence in preparing blog posts, newsletters and social media copy.

Social Media & Analytics: Familiarity with X, LinkedIn and Facebook, and an interest in tracking engagement and performance.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in design and scheduling tools such as Canva, alongside Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.

Collaboration: Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with the Fablab Winam team and respond to feedback.
