Business Development Intern – School Farms, Ghana
Organisation Description
School Farms Ghana is a social initiative dedicated to addressing food insecurity, promoting sustainable agriculture, and empowering young people. The organisation establishes school farms across various educational institutions, providing students with hands-on agricultural training, enhancing their understanding of sustainable farming practices, and contributing to local food security. By encouraging agribusiness education, School Farms Ghana inspires students to view agriculture as a viable career path, fostering local economic growth and resilience. The intern will also contribute to business development through tasks such as data analysis, report writing, and concept note development.
Project Scope
This project contributes to School Farms Ghana's mission of enhancing visibility and expanding its network by identifying strategic partnerships and showcasing its impact on food security and education.
Developing 3–5 concept notes across CENS+ initiatives.
Preparing 1–2 business development cases and draft donor proposals.
Conducting market research and partner mapping to identify 10–15 potential partners or donors.
Supporting the drafting of 2–3 budgets, 1–2 workplans, and accompanying theories of change or results frameworks.
Assisting with donor engagement processes, including preparing meeting notes, briefing documents, and follow-up summaries.
Developing 1–2 pitch decks or presentations for stakeholder outreach.
Supporting monitoring of the partnership pipeline and maintaining a simple tracking log of outreach and responses.
Project Outcomes
3–5 CENS+ concept notes formatted and ready for internal review.
At least one donor proposal or business case drafted for prospective partners.
A market and partnership mapping report including 10–15 identified opportunities.
Draft versions of budgets, workplans, and a basic theory of change.
Donor engagement support materials (briefing notes, meeting summaries, follow-up emails).
1–2 pitch decks suitable for presentations to partners, schools, or funders.
An updated pipeline tracker showing outreach progress and recommended next steps.
Internship Requirements
Analytical & Research Skills: Ability to gather information, synthesise insights, and produce structured documents.
Writing & Documentation: Competence in preparing concept notes, proposals, and short briefs.
Development Sector Awareness: Understanding of climate action, education systems, youth entrepreneurship, nutrition, or willingness to learn quickly.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, particularly in producing clear tables, budgets, and slides.
Collaboration: Strong communication skills to work with the School Farms Ghana team and integrate feedback effectively.
