Business Development Intern – Reform Africa Uganda

The organisation develops and implements practical training programmes, enterprise incubation initiatives, and community-based solutions designed to strengthen economic participation and build resilient local markets. Through strategic partnerships, client engagements, and community collaboration, Reform Africa Uganda supports young people and emerging entrepreneurs to access skills, markets, and income-generating opportunities.

Project Scope

This project contributes to Reform Africa Uganda’s growth strategy by strengthening its commercial positioning, partnership pipeline, and revenue opportunities:

  • Developing 3–5 concept notes aligned with revenue-generating service lines such as youth entrepreneurship training, enterprise support, climate-focused initiatives, or corporate partnership programmes.

  • Preparing 1–2 business development cases or draft commercial proposals for prospective clients, partners, or funders.

  • Conducting market research and stakeholder mapping to identify 10–15 potential paying clients, CSR partners, development agencies, or institutional collaborators.

  • Supporting the drafting of 2–3 outline budgets and pricing structures for proposed programmes, ensuring commercial viability.

  • Drafting 1–2 simple workplans and value propositions that articulate both impact and financial sustainability.

  • Developing 1–2 pitch decks or capability presentations to support sales conversations and investor or partner outreach.

  • Supporting the tracking of the sales and partnership pipeline using a structured outreach log.

Project Outcomes

  • 3–5 commercially aligned concept notes ready for internal review and refinement.

  • At least one revenue-focused proposal or business case drafted for a strategic opportunity.

  • A structured market and partner mapping document identifying 10–15 viable commercial or blended-finance opportunities.

  • Draft budgets and pricing models demonstrating basic cost recovery or profit margins.

  • 1–2 polished pitch decks suitable for use in business development conversations.

  • An updated sales and partnership pipeline tracker outlining outreach progress and recommended next steps.

Internship Requirements

  • Analytical & Market Research Skills: Ability to conduct competitor and market analysis and synthesise findings into commercially structured documents.

  • Business Writing & Documentation: Confidence in preparing proposals, pricing outlines, and concise business briefs.

  • Commercial & Impact Awareness: Interest in social enterprise models that balance revenue generation with measurable community impact.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, particularly for budgeting, financial tables, and presentation development.

  • Collaboration & Professionalism: Strong written communication skills and the ability to work constructively with the Reform Africa Uganda team, responding to feedback and refining outputs accordingly.
