Martin Oloo

Born and raised in the rural parts of Western Kenya, he found himself handling local community issues by helping people solve their social challenges ranging from child abuse and neglect, gender violence, poverty, drug abuse, etc. Through this, he became a fully-fledged Social Worker. After decades of social work, Martin felt that this approach was not sustainable and was looking for innovative ways to help people make their own money. He joined Fab Academy (MOOC digital fabrication course) lectured from MIT and offered by the Fab Foundation. He became the first Kenyan to graduate from this course.

Martin believes that when people use what they have locally to produce by themselves (local manufacturing) and sell the excess to get what they cannot produce, they can take control of their economy. He supports upcoming innovators and curious creative individuals to build models that can be scaled to market through his Fablab.

Don't just be a consumer, you can also produce something.
