Guiako Obin

Guiako Obin was born in Abidjan. He is a computer scientist by training, and has worked for  four years in the field of geolocation (Real time tracking of any mobile device by the GPS network).  In 2014, he co-founded,  the Baby Lab, the first Ivorian Fab Lab enrolled in the worldwide network of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Babylab's vision is to make neighbourhoods potential technological innovation hubs for young people. In March 2016 in Dakar, Guiako represented the Ivory Coast as a distinguished ambassador in the Next Einstein Forum programme of the African Institute of Sciences and Mathematics, Kigali. The aim of the programme is to promote African scientific and technological innovation internationally. He participates in several high-level international meetings and leadership programmes in the world, focused on engaging African youth for the continent, developing science, technology and social and solidarity economy.  In 2017,  Guiako was awarded with the Ivorian government's National Best Excellence Award for the Best Young Digital Initiative. He was recognised as a Young Leader of Tomorrow in 2019 by the Swiss Crans Montana  Foundation. He was recently selected by the World Bank as one of the top 10 African Heroes of Social Inclusion.  Guiako Obin is to this day the Executive Director of the Baby Lab. He assists companies on digital transformation issues, and develops digital social inclusion programmes for organisations as part of their mission.
